Project Manager | Roles and Responsibilities 

The BestLife Group is a purpose-driven, rapidly growing multi-residential construction company. We are a people-centric business looking to hire a dynamic, experienced Senior Project Manager who will provide organization and technical guidance to our project teams.  

The ideal candidate:

  • Has proven problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Is detail-oriented with proficient administration skills
  • Is approachable as a manager but able to provide constructive feedback 
  • Conducts themselves with professionalism 
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills

CORE  Responsibilities 

  1. Project & Stakeholder Management 
  • Prepare and compile permit application documents. Follow-up  accordingly upon submission. 
  • Host trade and management meetings; promptly draft, distribute and follow-up on meeting minutes. 
  • Coordinate and issue of project documents: drawings, specs, contracts, change orders, site  instructions, shop drawings, installation instructions, warranty packages, etc. 
  • Create and manage project schedules; provide regular tracking updates and forecast potential  advancements or setbacks. 
  • Request pricing, secure orders and schedule deliveries of products and materials in respect of the  project schedule.  
  • Understand & develop sub-trade scopes of work. Request quotations and assist in the negotiation  of contracts in respect of the project schedule. 
  • Understand project budgets and assist in the tracking of time, material and contract costs. Develop  strategies to prevent financial liability of cost over-runs. 
  • Liaison with owners, clients, trades people and fellow workers in a professional and effective  manner. Appropriately persist communication for time-sensitive inquiries.
  • Develop and work towards a more streamlined approach to all aspects of project management and  construction.  
  • Contribute to weekly and/or bi-weekly crew scheduling meetings. 
  • Participate in site supervision, on-site project management, carpentry and labouring duties as may  be required to meet schedule, protect budget and/or boost crew performance and morale. 
  1. Estimating, Procurement & Budget Controls
  • Establish trade contacts; positively and effectively manage relationships. 
  • Source new suppliers, supplies and technologies – create and maintain contact lists of the same.
  • Electronically manage large amounts of information including drawings, specifications, addenda,  quotations, etc. 
  • Conduct manual and electronic quantity take-offs in organized fashion to request material/product  pricing and sub-trade quotations.  
  • Determine and evaluate construction requirements vs. job site logistics for valuing time  commitments and labour rates. 
  • Review and comment on tender quotations; assist in the organization of tender closings and bid  submissions. 
  • Assist with the preparation, negotiation and execution of contracts and subcontracts. 
  • Collaborate with Finance and Executive team on prepared budget reporting and job cost reviews 
  1. Customer Relationship Management  ( review process doc) 
  • Participate in client onboarding process through the development of workflow and communication plans 
  • Maintain client relationships through regular progress reporting and scheduled meetings 
  • Keep the executive team updated on communications and status changes as they arise.  
  • Manage project completion checklists; arrange for deficiency resolutions and warranty follow-up as  required. 
  • Ensure client experience is prioritized and that clients feel confident in their project success.

Work Location: Huntsville ON Head office with travel across Muskoka/Parry Sound region. 

Casual office dress (PPE required on active sites)

Schedule: 8am-5pm 

Monday to Friday 

Compensation:  Salary Band 2 

Requirements: 

5+ Years of Multi Residential Project Management  

AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred) 

PMP certification with experience OR quantified experience
